Potter's Country Home

This stunning 18th century country house is situated on the edge of the South Downs National Park, surrounded by farmland, and offers breath-taking views of the surrounding countryside. Its owners have spent the last few years sympathetically updating it, and they turned to Al & Co. for help with the major projects.

The natural swimming pond is the star of the show. Measuring 30m x 24m and 3m deep, it's an impressive feat of engineering and a dream come true for owner Sally, who is a keen swimmer. The pond was constructed by Al's team, who also built the stunning decking that leads on to it. This feature perfectly complements the gorgeous natural setting it sits within, creating a natural oasis that is perfect for relaxation.

Al & Co. also took on a number of other jobs within the house and garden. One of the standout projects was the new ‘boot room-come-utility-come-entrance hall,’ which was built from the ground up. The team handled everything from construction to design, including groundwork, brickwork, cedar cladding, and beautiful quarry floor tiles. The result is a stunning entrance that is as visually charming as it is practical.

Another project Al & Co. completed was the conversion of the first-floor bathroom. This involved constructing a dormer window, as well as the timber window itself, providing a classic and elegant finish that suited the building perfectly.

Room for Everything

This addition was created as a porch to the side of the house, which has become the everyday front door and has multiple uses - a home to Jambo the dog, a boot room, pantry and storage area. The bespoke carpentry was created entirely from old pallettes, and the reclaimed quarry tiles makes it feel like its as old as the rest of the house.
