Its owners have spent the last few years sympathetically updating it, and they turned to Al & Co. for help with the major projects.

Renovating an old house can be a daunting task, especially if the property has been neglected for some time. However, with the right team and expertise, these properties can fulfil their considerable potential. West Lodge was just such a project. Al & Co. managed to transform it into a beautiful, comfortable, modern home, while preserving its innate charm and character.

A historic barn renovation at Weston Farm

This project began with an old piggery that had been left untouched for many years. It had become unsafe and derelict, and there was a lot of work to be done to reconceptualise it as a fresh, modern, space. The barn was a long clad building, which Al & Co. decided to deconstruct completely before embarking on the renovation work.

Restoring the Pump House

The Pump House is located in South Harting on the edge of the South Downs National Park. After a fallen tree demolished the original building, Al & Co. was called in to return it to its former glory. The restoration was a challenging project that required considerable effort and expertise, as the entire structure needed to be rebuilt.

Phoebe's House - creating a family home

Al & Co. was created a decade ago, when Al and his wife decided to purchase a grade II listed cottage. Their daughter Phoebe had just been born, and they wanted to build her the kind of family home she would cherish growing up in. (This is why the house, to this day, is referred to as “Phoebe’s House”). It’s a project that will never be truly completed, as Al is constantly finding new ways to tinker with the house and improve it.
